As we all know, 2020 was an absolutely insane year, with so many unsettling things happening and the Coronavirus pandemic that basically froze the whole world for a few months. Every traveller was bummed out because of the lockdown's causing travel cancelations. With no steady forecasts when is it going to be safe to start moving around the world again, it was quite impossible to plan anything ahead when it came to abroad travels. I had to postpone travelling to Australia and Azores islands and I still don't know when are any of those happening.
But! Life goes on and one ought to adapt to a new situation, right? I used it as an opportunity to finally visit some places in my own country that I haven't really explored before. It is a bit of a shame, that i have been pretty much around the globe but haven't bothered to appreciate what I have on my own doorstep. Hopefully, it's not too late to fix that.
The mountains there are low. In the part that we stayed at the peaks were barely noticible, but our experience was not about the summits, but about appreciating spacious meadows and wandering around beautiful moss-covered forests. But most importantly, appreciating each other's company with our group of friend - laughing, running around, reading books out loud, performing music on guitar and ukulele, cooking, having picnics and such. That was a really great time.
For the first two days the weather was horrid. Our clothes and hiking boots got soaked up completely on our ascend to the cottage and it would be unwise to go for longer excursions in such state. But we weren't bored anyway.
We stayed in a cottage named Chatka Górzystów, about 12km hike from the main road where we parked the cars. We slept and ate dinners there, the cottage offers fabulous pancakes and dumplings. Also, beer, which came in handy during the birthday celebration.
The atmosphere in the cottage was so warm and cozy, when the daylight faded away the common room was lit only with candlelight.
But once the weather improved, the landscape changed entirely. It was like a teleport to a completely different place.
