Bath - September 2017

Bath is an english gem, definitely worth a visit. It's located in Somerset, south-west England, about 3 hour coach drive from London. Judging by the amount of tourists it is one of top UK destination, and I can totally understand why.

Hidden between green Somerset hills Bath has a truly outstanding surrounding. This was a thing I didn't expect, I never considered south england to have such a diverse landscape. In basically every direction you could see tall green trees growing on the hills that were rising up in the distance. Wide river Avon is flowing through the city.

But what gave Bath it's majestic atmosphere is definitely the architecture. You'll see below that walking its streets is like entering an English fairy tale. So consistent, so majestic, all in stone, all neo-classical to show it's Roman origin.

Roman baths are the major tourist attraction in the city, dating back to 60-70 AD. Crazy, right? The main bath complex is small but well preserved and if you decide to enter, you get to see the complex itself and a tour through a interactive roman museum with free audioguides, very educating and rich in information. The baths are located in the heart of the city, right next to a massive gothic cathedral by the main square.

And so, I started to wander off by my own looking for interesting things to see.

Pulteney bridge on is another landmark, it plays exactly the same role as Ponte Veccio in Florence - it's a marketplace on a bridge. It's one of four bridges in the world that carry buildings on it's whole length. Besides that, it's simply pretty.
